Amazon Destination Denim

Project Manager, Asset Art Director
Brief
Make Associated approached RenderHeads to collaborate on this project to bring over 100 pieces of fashion to life on an interactive catwalk. My involvement was initially as Project Manager to oversee the asset production pipeline, but I took on the Art Director function as well to ensure the highest possible quality level and reduce turnaround time overall given the extremely tight timelines.
Details
An interactive installation developed for Amazon’s Destination Denim event in Berlin, showcasing real-time character rendering and user-driven animation. Over 100 unique clothing assets were modelled from photo references and applied to six fully rigged body types. Each character featured real-time cloth simulation and was animated using supplied motion capture data. The experience supported multi-user interaction via Azure Kinect cameras, allowing participants to control avatar movement across a 12m-wide display. The system was optimised for responsiveness and fidelity, using principles directly applicable to real-time character systems in games.
Unity, Marvelous Designer and Mixamo were all used to create the real time content.
